We had five days at this hotel in early July and it was exceptional. It was extremely hot whilst we were there around 40 degrees most days so we spent more time in the air conditioned hotel than would normally be the case. It excelled in every way, our room was great, the breakfasts first class and and the standard and variety of food at the two restaurants coudn't be faulted and neither could the staff. From the beautifully gowned girls who open the doors to the hotel, the reception staff and cleaning staff we have only praise. A truly wonderful introduction to Vietnam. Close

In the hectic capital of a developing country, this recently built hotel manages to isolate its guests from the outside world, and convince them they are staying in a semi-tropical resort. It is no doubt the best hotel of its kind in Hanoi. I stayed in a lakefront room, which was spacious and very successfully combined local decor with top-class comfort. According to the main building's floorplan, one quarter of the rooms are city view, one quarter lakefront, and one half lakeview. The suites are located either at the end of the water-side end of the main building, or in separate pavilions on the water. Keeping with the pavilion theme, the gym is housed in a separate two story unit, and the bar in a open-walled one on the water. Taxis from the hotel to downtown take maybe 15 minutes, and a low fare; every taxi on this trip was honest (stay with newer vehicles from familiar companies); the taxis summoned by the IC are all reliable ones. Situated at the West Lake of Hanoi, the Intercon West Lake is a beautiful hotel with all the facilities expected of a 5 star hotel. Rooms were spacious with a wide array of channels on cable TV. Friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is however a little far away from town. A 15 min taxi ride would cost about USD3-4. The hotel concierge has a list of reliable taxi companies you should take. All in all, a pleasant stay and would definitely come back if I'm ever in Hanoi. Close
